Violet Pearl Ashley, 94, of Ogdensburg, died July 23, 2011, at United Helpers Nursing Home, Allen-Nichols Funeral Home, Ogdensburg, in care of arrangements. Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 27, 2 -4 and 7 - 9 PM. The funeral service will be Thursday, July 28, 10:00 am, at the funeral home, Reverend Father James Shurtleff officiating, burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Violet is survived by her sons, Kevin ( Ginger Hooper), South Carolina, Clarence (Judith), Wayne (Linda), Ronald (Edwina), Ogdensburg, Joseph Jr. (Donna), New Mexico, Harold (Linda), Madrid, Eugene (Nancy), Niagara Falls, daughters, Violet Ashley, Potsdam, Valerie (Ted) Como, Tennessee, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sons, Kniel and Roger, an infant daughter, Vicky Jane, a brother, Clarence Law, sisters, Ruby Cole and Hazel Dixon. Violet was born in Ogdensburg, the daughter of William C. and Clara Shaw Law on August 14, 1916. She married Joseph H. Ashley, September 3, 1935 at the Notre Dame Rectory, Father Garand officiating, Joseph died on January 14, 2005. She was a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Church in Ogdensburg. She loved to travel, eating at Ponderosa and country and western music. Contributions can be made to the Ogdensburg Volunteer Rescue Squad.
