Stanley T. Johnson, age 97 of Petoskey, Michigan passed away Sunday, August 18, 2013 at the Bay Bluffs Medical Care Facility in Harbor Springs, Michigan. He was born December 12, 1915 in St. Lawrence Co., New York , the son of Robert and Maude (Thayer) Johnson. On April 19, 1942 Stanley married Mildred "Mae" Langley in Ogdensburg , NY where they made their home.

Stanley retired from Diamond National Paper Mill in 1976 and had also owned and operated Johnson Upholstery for 15 years. Prior to working at the paper mill, Stanley had farmed with his father since high school. He also worked at the Ogdensburg Journal. Mildred preceded him in death in 1994 and he moved to Petoskey in 1996 where he has been since. He enjoyed quilting, cooking, visiting with his large family and was active with the Salvation Army.

Survivors include his eight children, William (Patti) of Key Port, NJ, John (Dorothy) of Indian River, MI, George (companion Linda White), Ogdensburg, Donald (Anne) of Ogdensurg, NY, Kevin (Laura) of Watkinsville, GA, Mary (Tom Rhinford) Beckelhimer of Central Square, NY, Shirley (Gary Cardinal) LaPlante of Ogdensburg, NY and Karen (Kevin) Madill of Heuvelton, NY, one brother, Walter (Gerri) Johnson of Ogdensburg, NY, 23 grandchildren and step grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Besides his wife Mae, Stanley was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Bouchard, his son, Carl Johnson and his two sisters, Mildred Gorrow and Shirley Johnson.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 11:30 am at the Allen-Nichols Funeral Home followed by an inurnment service at 1:00 pm at the Hillcrest Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Stanley 's name may be directed to your local Salvation Army or Bay Bluffs Medical Care Facility, 750 E. Main St., Harbor Springs, MI 49740.
