Mitchell S. Belile

March 25, 1936 — August 14, 2018

HEUVELTON- Graveside services for Mitchell S. Belile, 82, of Heuvelton will be private at Hillcrest Cemetery.  Mr. Belile died on Tuesday, August 14th, 2018 at Riverledge Nursing Home in Ogdensburg after a long illness.

Arrangements are under the direction of LaRue & Pitcher Funeral Home, Ogdensburg.

Mitchell Belile was born on March 25, 1936, in Louisville, NY. He was the son of the late Clarence and Ozelma Mary (Mitchell) Belile.  He was a graduate of Massena High School.  He served in the United States Air Force. He came home to the North County and worked as a Rigging Foreman on the construction of the Saint Lawrence Seaway. He married Aleta Young of Macomb, NY.  After 35 years of marriage, she passed away on March 10, 1997.  He was a talented Heavy Equipment Operator and supervised large construction projects all over New York and Pennsylvania.  Mr. Belile was the General superintendent for  Environmental Utilities which built sewer districts throughout  Lancaster County, Pennsylvania from 1972 to 1982.  He worked for Northern New York Construction in Potsdam until his retirement in 2000.   He was an accomplished and talented woodworker, he loved fishing and hunting and especially telling stories of his life experiences and telling a good joke. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and loved ones.

He is survived by his companion of 20 years, Sylvia Bresett, his children;  Joe Young of Parishville, Sidney Belile of Raymondville, Casey Belile of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Vonda Preston of Carthage, Robin Gaines of Watertown and Lisa Hevener of Heuvelton.  He is survived by his siblings; Herbert Belile of Rome, NY and Claudette “Sally” Gleason.   He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife Aleta Belile and his siblings; June Jacobs, Donna LaFave, Darlena Currier and Zelda Ezard.
