Marion A. Hess

August 28, 1928 — January 12, 2017

OGDENSBURG-Funeral services for Marion A. (Pierce) Hess, 88, of Ogdensburg will be private.  Burial will be held in the spring at Pine Hill Cemetery, Eel Weir.

 

Mrs. Hess died on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the Riverledge Nursing Home in Ogdensburg.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of LaRue & Pitcher Funeral Home, Ogdensburg.

 

Marion A. Hess was born on August 28, 1928 in Redwood, NY the daughter of the late Henry and Laura (Snell) Pierce. She attended Redwood and Ogdensburg Schools.  On December 14, 1946 she married Charles A Hess at the First Congregational Church of Ogdensburg.   Mr. Hess predeceased her in July 18th, 1979.   Marion started her career with Kinney Drugs and later went to work in Food Service for the Ogdensburg City School District and the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center.   Marion was a past member of the Ogdensburg Congregational church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School.  She also was past member of Showtime.  She was also an avid reader. 

 

Marion will be remembered most for her love of her children and grandchildren

 

She is survived by two sons David A. Hess and his wife Kim of Carthage, NY and Michael A. Hess and his wife Nancy of Lisbon.   She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

  

She was predeceased by her daughter; Linda Cruikshank in 2014, three sisters; Vivian Pierce (who died in infancy), Eva Kiah and Geraldine Carter as well as her brother Richard Pierce.
