Marie Schneller

HEUVELTON-On January 28, 2017 Marie Schneller passed away in much the same way that she lived her 82 years; in peace and surrounded by the people that she loved and who so loved her in return.

Arrangements are under the direction of LaRue & Pitcher Funeral Home, Ogdensburg.

Marie was born on June 30, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York to parents John  and Irene (Cardinal) Tacchino.   She was predeceased by her brother, Joe Tacchino and his wife Francis Algie Tacchino.  Among her survivors are her children and grandchildren, Thomas Schneller (Joel, Kristen and Ashley), John and Laurie Schneller (Joseph and Kenneth), Barbara and Mark Lashua (Katherine and Jenna) and Michael and Laura Schneller(Elizabeth and Matthew).  She is also survived by sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Robert Bracco, several beloved nieces and nephews, as well as 4 great- grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Marie held jobs from Wall St. to Northern New York, in each instance making lifelong friends along the way.  Always one to find humor in a situation, she brought joy wherever she went and gladly shared it with others.  Her sense of wonder and ability to see beauty in simple things kept her young at heart.

It is in this spirit of joy, and in lieu of traditional calling hours and services, that the family wishes to celebrate this remarkable woman’s life at the home of her daughter and son-in-law’s at 11 Rensselaer Street in Heuvelton on Wednesday, February 1st from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.  We invite all who knew and cared for her, as well as those who are family friends, to stop in, share a story, say farewell and reminisce with her family. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the East Road Cemetery in Depeyster.

Memorial donations in Marie’s honor may be made to the Heuvelton Free Library 57 North State Street Heuvelton, NY 13654, the Heuvelton Historical Association 83 State Street Heuvelton, NY 13654 or to Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley 6805 NYS Route 11 Potsdam, NY 13676.

Online condolences may be made at www.LaRuePitcher.com.

I knew Marie from my days working at the USDA Single Family Housing. Your Mom always put a smile on everyone's face. She was one never to sit still very long, such knowledge she had. Talked to first time potential homebuyers as if they were her own children. I remember going on a home inspection with her and she got stuck in a snow bank - of course, the snow bank was as tall as she was. She walked right out of her boots and continued the inspection. Many years after this, whenever I saw her, we still had a good laugh. Always remember her a kind, knowledgeable lady. So very sorry for your loss. She lived life to the fullest.

On behalf of all of us here that worked with her, we are sincerely sorry for your loss but eternally grateful for having met Marie. She had a certain cadence to her life and if the cause was just, the work was never a problem and she never got knocked off her pace...and, if fun could also be had, well then ... she went all in.

Her experience, patience and wisdom were good grounding for us and her sage advice was always welcome. What a treasure we all enjoyed in Marie.

With kind regards - Keith Zimmerman

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this difficult time. Snowflakes are kisses from heaven and what a peaceful, beautiful morning it was when we woke and heard of Re's passing. May these little signs keep your mom and grandmother close to you in the coming days and weeks. Peace to all.

I am so sorry and saddened to read of Marie's passing. She was a wonderful lady who was loved by all and I know she leaves a huge void. Marie treated people with sincerity and integrity and a smile that would light up a room! It was a privilege to know her. May you find comfort in knowing Marie is at peace and in God's eternal care and remember, as long as you have her memories and hold her in your hearts, she will never truly be gone. With love, sympathy and prayers...
