Margaret "Maggie" A. Sears

OGDENSBURG-A Memorial Mass for Margaret Ann “Maggie” Sears, 78, of Ogdensburg will be celebrated on Friday, April 21st, 2017 at Notre Dame Church at 10 a.m.  with Rev. F. James Shurtleff as celebrant.  Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.  Mrs. Sears died Saturday morning, April 1, 2017 at her home.

Arrangements are under the direction of LaRue & Pitcher Funeral Home.

Margaret Ann Sears was born on December 3, 1938 in Dekalb Junction, NY.  She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Gertrude (Mills) Blair.  She was a 1956 graduate of St. Mary’s Academy and worked as a Therapy Aide at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center for 20 years until her retirement.  On July 20, 1957 she married Robert Sears at Notre Dame Church, Msgr. A. D. Charbonneau performed the Nuptial Mass.  She founded the Prayer Shawl Ministry at Notre Dame Church and St. Mary’s Cathedral.  She enjoyed knitting and crocheting for the elderly and sick and was happiest around her many furry and feathered companions.  Maggie was a member of the Knights of Columbus Women’s Auxiliary.  She loved camping and the outdoors and for many years she vacationed in Maine.  

Maggie is survived by her twin sister Mary Breen of Ogdensburg,  her niece Dawn Blair Barney and her husband Ernie of Brushton; nephew Kenneth Blair and wife Lynn of Patchogue, a special niece, Julie Breen Madlin and her husband Patrick of Ogdensburg and her beloved dog, Bailey.

She was predeceased by her husband Robert Sears on July 10, 1997 and her infant son Kevin Michael Sears on March 23, 1958, only ten hours after birth.
