Janie Tyo

Janie M. Tyo, 90 of Star Lake, died February 4, 2011, at Clifton Fine Nursing Home. Arrangements are with Allen-Denesha Funeral Home in DeKalb Junction. Calling hours will be Tuesday, February 8, 12 - 2:30 p.m., the funeral to follow 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home, Father Robert Decker officiating. Burial will be in Hermon Cemetery.

Janie is survived by sons Daniel (Linda) of Springville, IA, Timothy of Louisville KY; daughters, Sharon (Daniel) Pearson of Ogdensburg, Sandra Tyo of Hermon, Carol (Paul) Minckler of Vernon, Sylvia (Richard) Davey of Oswegatchie, Linda (John) Woodrow of Hermon; a brother, Daniel Casey of Cornwall, Ontario; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Joseph; brother, William Casey; sisters, Bethaia Maloney and Fern Branchaud.

She was born June 24, 1920 in the Berwick, Ontario, Canada, the child of Daniel J. and Ethel A. Steele Casey. She married Francis E. Tyo, October 2, 1940, in Cornwall, Ontario; he died December 15, 1996. She was a homemaker and babysat children in her home. She was a member of the Star Lake Senior Citizens Club. She loved spending time with her family; she was the "mother hen", playing cards and board games, and watching television.
