James R. Burwell

James R. Burwell, 75, of Ogdensburg, died, June 24, 2013, at his home. Calling hours will be Thursday, June 27, 2013, 11 am – 2 P.M at the funeral home. Funeral service will follow at 2 P.M. Reverend Robert Schirmer officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. James is survived by his wife, Evelyn Mayhew-Burwell, his daughters, Marsha and her husband William Harto, Madrid, Virginia and her husband Kevin Murray, Lisbon, Dawn and her husband Chris Meuten, Morristown, Brenda and her husband Michael Holler, Ellenboro, NC, Deborah and her husband Norman Middlemiss, Ellenboro, NC, Jessie Burwell, Ogdensburg, Danielle and her husband Randy Brooks, Keeseville, Dana and her husband Joseph Rodriguez, Rolla, M.O, Jennifer and her husband Kristopher Durant, Rensselaer Falls, his brother, Victor Burwell, Ogdensburg, his sister, Pamela and her husband Richard Chapin, Canastota, his mother in law, Golda Baker, Madrid, his sister-in-law, Patricia Burwell, 22 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson James Burwell, and a brother Morris Burwell. He was born on August 14, 1937 in Ogdensburg, the son of Morris and Frances Johnson Burwell; he graduated from George Hall Trade School. James married Joan Rheome which ended in divorce; he then married Evelyn Mayhew on August 14, 2011 at their home, Justice of the Peace Jennifer Durant officiating. He was a warehouse lift truck operator for Newell Manufacturing in Ogdensburg, before that he was a painter in Syracuse. James was a member of the Sons of the AMVETS in Ogdensburg. He loved his family, watching court TV, hunting, gardening, motorcycling and doing mechanical work. Contributions can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
