Henry C. Koenigsamen

Potsdam- A celebration of life for Henry C. Koenigsamen, 79, of Potsdam will be held at a later date to be announced.  Mr. Koenigsamen died Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center following a brief illness.

 

Arrangements are under the direction of LaRue & Pitcher Funeral Home, Ogdensburg.

 

Henry C. Koenigsamen was born on November 14, 1936 in Jersey City, New Jersey.  He was the son of the late Harry and Helen (Kunz) Koenigsamen.  He was a 1954 graduate of Bethpage High School and a graduate of Farmingdale State College.  Henry worked as a Budget Estimator for Grumman in Bethpage, NY until his retirement in 1992.  On April 4th 1959 he married Sonia Lee Burmester in Bethpage.  Mrs. Koenigsamen died on March 10, 1995.

 

Following his retirement he worked as a Travel Agent, specializing in cruises.   He was a regular cruiser himself and introducing people to the activity made it all the more enjoyable, through his Travel Agent position.   He loved to travel, cook and in his younger years gardening and woodworking.  He also volunteered for the Potsdam Booster Club as Co-Treasurer and other volunteer roles. Most of all he loved entertaining and enjoying a nice glass of wine and sharing a meal with friends and family.   

 

He is survived by his daughter Linda Buchanan and her partner Randy LaFirst of Potsdam, his grandsons; Paul Buchanan and his wife Kari of Arkansas and Lee Buchanan of Washington D.C., he is also survived by his great grandson Hudson Miller.

 

He was predeceased by his wife Sonia Lee Koenigsamen and his daughter Janet Lee Koenigsamen.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations in Henry’s memory be made to the Janet Lee Koenigsamen  Scholarship Fund  C/O The College of St. Benedicts Suite 37 South College Ave Suite 212   St.  Joseph MN 56374
