Georgianna M. Bruyere

TUCSON, AZ/OGDENSBURG-A Mass of Christian Burial for Georgianna M. Bruyere, 95 of Ogdensburg will be celebrated on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 12 p.m.  at Notre Dame Church with Rev. F. James Shurtleff as celebrant.  Burial will be held in Notre Dame Cemetery.    Calling hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 on Friday, November 3rd, 2017  at the LaRue & Pitcher Funeral Home 324 New York Avenue, Ogdensburg.   Mrs. Bruyere died on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Haven Health Care Facility in Tuscon, AZ.  

 Arrangements are under the direction of LaRue & Pitcher Funeral Home.

Georgianna M. Bruyere was born on January 7, 1922 in Ogdensburg, NY.  She was the daughter of the late George A. and Georgianna (Brabant) Robillard.   She was a 1939 graduate of St. Mary’s Academy and went on to attended business school.   On December 1, 1945 she married Patrick Bruyere at the Notre Dame Church.  After 56 years of marriage, Patrick died on April 27, 2002.

Georgianna started her career as a secretary working for Alcoa in Massena and then Empsall’s in Ogdensburg, for 32 years she worked as a sales representative for Avon cosmetics, she also volunteered as a Driver for St. Lawrence County Department of Social Services.  

Georgianna was a member of the Order of the Grey Nuns associates; as a parishioner of Notre Dame she served as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, Choir Member of both Notre Dame and St. Mary’s.  She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and Secretary of the National Ecumenical Association local district.  She was a past Secretary of the PTA at Kennedy School and enjoyed sewing and knitting.

She is survived by her sons; Ronald Bruyere of Escondido, CA, Donald Bruyere and his wife Lisa of Tuscon, AZ and James Bruyere of Massena.  She is survived by her daughter Susanne Bruyere of Ithaca and 4 grandchildren.      Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her.

She was predeceased by her husband Patrick Bruyere, her brothers; John and George Robillard and her sisters; Lillian Massia, Philomena Mills, Beatrice Howie and Marguerita Robideau.
