Ernest W. "Butch" Ghize, 72, Ogdensburg, died on August 10, 2014, at his home. Calling hours will be Wednesday, August 13, 2014, 2 -4 and 7 - 9 PM, a funeral service will be 10:00 am, Thursday, August 14, at the funeral home, Reverend David Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Presbyterian Stone Church Cemetery. Butch is survived by a daughter Lisa Ghize and fiancAC. Joseph LeDuc of Ogdensburg, grandchildren Megan Sabourin and Nicholas Ghize, great grandchildren Zachary and Kaden, a sister Evelyn and husband Kenneth McWilliams, of Ogdensburg, a nephew, Mike Kirby, several cousins, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by siblings, George "Danny" Ghize, and Shirley G. Smith. Ernest was born on October 18, 1941 in Worcester, Mass., the son of Ernest H. and Mabel Kirby Ghize, he graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and then attended Canton ATC, studying drafting, and a marriage to Patricia A. Barr ended. Butch owned Ghize's Tavern and an apartment building. Previously he worked at Hobkirk's Garage, then owned and operated Ghize's Garage and Ghize's Auto Sales. He loved spending time with his family, working on cars, playing on his computer, and doing carpentry. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Presbyterian Stone Church Cemetery Tree Planting Fund. Butch's family would like to thank Pat Barr, Maureen Brayton and the caregivers from Hospice for the wonderful care they provided Butch.
