OGDENSBURG-A Graveside service for Earle M. Goodwin, 93, of McCormick Road, Ogdensburg, will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Ingham Cemetery in Brier Hill, with Rev. Evon Lloyd of the Hammond Presbyterian Church officiating.
There will be no public calling hours. Mr. Goodwin died on July 3, 2017 at his home.
Arrangements are under the direction of LaRue & Pitcher Funeral Home, Ogdensburg.
Earle M. Goodwin was born on May 10, 1924 in Hammond, New York. He was the son of the late Richard E. and Nina B. (Youngs) Goodwin. He attended Hammond Schools. On September 18, 1948 he married Mariel Smith at the Presbyterian Stone Church. Earle started his career as a farmer and later worked as a truck driver for the US Postal Service, a plow truck driver for the New York State Department of Transportation, and delivered Heating Oil. He enjoyed working doing wood work in his shop, and was a life-long Dodger fan. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who loved listening to his stories about his life.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years Mariel S. Goodwin, his sons; Ralph E. Goodwin and his wife Cheryl of Ogdensburg and Wayne A. Goodwin and his wife Juliette of North Carolina. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Renata Sheehan and her husband Jesse of Morristown and Shawna Hudak and her husband Greg of Tupper Lake. Eight great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him.
He was predeceased by his siblings; Helene Palmer, Phyllis Preston, Mary Marguerite Henderson, Harriet Barley, and Richard “Junior” Goodwin.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Earle’s memory may be made to the Hammond Presbyterian Church.
