Dora Barse

Dora N. Barse, 82, of Morristown, died January 27 at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg.Allen-Nichols Funeral Home, Ogdensburg, is in care of arrangements. Calling hours will be Sunday, January 30, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral mass will be January 31 at 10 a.m. at St. John's Church, Morristown, with Reverend Father James Shurtleff officiating.

Dora is survived by sons Francis (Jeannie) Colby, Morristown, Joseph (Dorothy) Colby, Keysville, Leonard (Ruth) Colby, KY, and Brian (Lisa) Colby, Ogdensburg; daughters Norma (Kenneth) Joy, Ausable Forks, and Amy (Chester) Shalton, Jay; step-children Claude (Christine) Barse, Morristown, and Patricia (Danny) Recor, Watertown; daughter-in-law Kathy Colby, Utica; a sister, Virginia "Birdie" (Arthur) Latham, Ausable; 18 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sons Richard, Keith and Bradford Colby; brothers Mose, Ernest, Whalen and Charles Hart; and a sister, Anna Mae Fournier.

She was born March 15, 1928 in the Town of Saranac, the child of James and Luduvina Miner Hart.

She married David Barse, December 27, 1975; he died February 4, 2001.

She was a cashier at the Parkway Express. Previous to that, she was an assembly line worker at Newell Manufacturing until she retired in 1990.

She was a parishioner at St. John's Church, Morristown.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family, crocheting, reading, playing computer games, motorcycling, snowmobiling, camping and boating. She was a social butterfly.
