Alice E. Davis

June 3, 1930 — July 10, 2017

OGDENSBURG- Funeral Services for Alice E. Davis, 87, of Ogdensburg will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Ogdensburg with Pastor David Hart officiating.  Burial will follow the Funeral Service at Ogdensburgh Cemetery.  A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 2-6 p.m. at the LaRue & Pitcher Funeral Home 324 New York Ave, Ogdensburg.     Mrs. Davis died on Monday, July 10, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since 1991.

Arrangements are under the direction of LaRue & Pitcher Funeral Home.

Alice E. Davis was born on June 3, 1930 in Potsdam, NY.  She was the daughter of the late Frederick and Jesse (Liscum) Shoen.  She was a 1948 graduate of Madrid Central School.  On August 6, 1949, she married Charles Davis at the First Methodist Church of Ogdensburg. Charles died on April 17, 1978.  Alice was also a graduate of Canton ATC where she earned her Nursing degree in 1976.  She worked as a Registered Nurse for the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center, until a debilitating injury forced her retirement.  She was a member of the Rebekahs , the Order of the Eastern Star and the First Baptist Church of Ogdensburg .She enjoyed reading and most of all spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children; Mary Alice Cash and her husband Brian of Ogdensburg, Norma Woods of Ogdensburg and Earl Davis and his wife Kathy of Barneveld, NY.  She is also survived by her siblings; Floyd Showen of Florida, Anne (William) Mayville of Norfolk, Donald Shoen of South Colton, Roger (Judy) Shoen of Lisbon.  Also surviving are her grandchildren; Robert (Krista) Woods of Ogdensburg, Angela(Joseph Baxter) Boyer of Ashland, OH, Leslie (Travis) Reed of Walpole, MA, Julie (Eric) Quinones of Ogdensburg.   She is also survived by her Sisters-In- Law Anne Shoen of Massena and Lois Shoen of Ogdensburg.  Eight great grandchildren also survive her.

She was predeceased by her siblings Frederick “John” Shoen, William Shoen, Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Dumas, Roy Shoen, Kenneth Shoen, Joyce Schofell and Linda McGee.

The family would also like to thank the caring staff of St. Joseph’s Nursing Home who had taken such great care of Alice over the years and are very much considered family.
